Every Sunday is Family Night..

Sunday night's have always been good ol' family night. No matter what our week consists of, it is mandatory that Sunday night you are to report to "Pretty's" house. We play games, eat dinner, catch up on T.V. shows and rest before the week begins.

Well last Sunday night was a little different... Memaw, My mom's mom was in town, so we had a family progressive dinner.
Here was the line up:

1st: Dick's new apartment- Appetizers
2nd: My mom's house- Main Course
3rd: The Apple's house- Dessert

It turned out to be a fall themed progressive dinner since the weather turned crisp and cool. There is something about the smell and decorations of fall that screams FAMILY!

APPETIZER:
This me and Dick's appetizer. Twice baked potatoes inside of mini pumpkins
hollowed out!  It was incredible and such a hit!

Main Course:
Memaw's baked beans

Corn casserole

Before I continue.. I have a confession to make. I am an extremely picky eater when it comes to meats. I really only eat like fish and poultry! Most would say those aren't meats.. but I will venture out into a hamburger every now. Overall I am plain weird about meats. I DO NOT fit in with the fam on this subject.

Whew.. Okay so saying that, these were my two favorite dishes of the main course! There was also a beef and gravy dish that my grandma claims is her speciality! She wanted to contribute :)

Dessert:

My  sister made the adorable Rice Krispy treats. They are made with candy corns to bring in the fall!

And an Apple Pie. She thinks she's cute cause there last name is "Apple." LOL

If your not hungry after that menu there is something wrong with your taste buds!
Happy Fall Ya'll!

Baby Showers Galore!

If you have not heard, my sister will be having her baby in just a few short weeks. Not to brag or anything but I will make the best AUNT. It's kind of crazy but her little boy is due October 31st. I think we all secretly pray that it's any day BUT Halloween. If he is born on the evil holiday,  I guess he will arrive in his first costume that will for sure make a statement! NUDE!

They have decided to name him Jonah Dalton Apple. So far the Doc says he will be tall and have long arms! So we are glad it's a boy and not a girl.

A few weekends back we had two baby showers for the Apples to prepare for this sweet little blessing.
Saturday Night Couple Family Shower
This shower was at Johnny's sisters house, Christy. It was such a fun night as they catered in food from On The Border and invited mostly family and Johnny and Katie's couple friends.
The Apple's and Baby Jonah
Diaper cakes are always a hit! This is the one that I made
for this shower. Instead of diapers on top I decided to
top the diapers with a few extra gifts!
The other really cute diaper cake that was
made of wash clothes and diapers and had
toys and socks all throughout!

Next was the Prestonwood Church Shower. It's always over the top in cuteness!
Sweet invitations!
Petits-Fours from Steins! Katie's favorite
and all  the  soon to be mommy wanted!
Sweet baby boy blue table decorations
Hydrangeas and roses
The Grandma's to be:
Pretty and
KK

So many presents, so many blessings, from so many sweet friends.
Jonah is loved already!

All the precious hostess
He is going to be such a fun Dad!

In less than a month we will have a new addition to our family. God is so good! .. I'll keep you posted! :)

With Love and a Thankful Heart,
Abigail

Sewing Guru in the Works...

Friends:
It's been TWO weeks since I blogged! I not only have been crazy busy with a nephew on the way, school, and work but I bought my first sewing a machine. Definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made! Not that I have tons of time, but trust me every spare minute I seem to be making something just for giggles!

TAH-DA.. Here is the Beauty! It could not be more perfect for me. It 's like sewing for dummies! It does anything and everything I would ever need it to do and has step by step and everything in between!

So I am a beginner, let's remember that. My mom says to me all the time that "It's like a 15 year old getting a new car with no driving courses," and my dad the first day says "Be careful I don't want to be rushing you to the emergency room." So embarrassing! Well I will show them!

I so far have sewn:
  • Dog dresses
  • Curtains
  • Couch pillows
  • In the process of a T-shirt blanket

                                                            Pillows for Dick's couch

Curtain for Dick's room. His room is the nautical look!  Ikea actually sells
really fun printed material.

That is all for the moment but you never know what could be coming out of the wood works for the upcoming holidays! Me and Hobby Lobby are best friends these days as my heart skips a beat when I walk through the doors! :)Sewing might be a new obession!

Up, Up and Away! The Plano Balloon Festival

My favorite Balloon that we saw! It was the
perfect touch of  southern hospitality!
We have so many family traditions growing up in the Dunham household, one of them is attending the annual Plano Balloon Festival! It's a mini-fair with food, fun,  games, vendors, live bands and lots of hot air balloons! It actually lasts all weekend with the "glowing" of the balloons, fire works, sunrise balloon take offs and contests.

We normally only attend the EARLY and I mean early 6:00 sunrise event. This is where the balloons take off one by one just as the sun is rising! It sounds dumb but seriously the combo of the sunrise and the balloons lighting up is so pretty!

The whole gang at 6:15ish... way too early for most of us. Not much was being said  and a lot of fake smiles captured the moment!

This was his first year to experience the festival. He was such a good sport considering he had to be at my house at 5:45!!! :)
Of course the dogs have to attend as well! Can't leave home without these babies...
As you can see Lucy's daddy (Dick) dressed her
for the day..Go Gators!

This is Lucy's Mom Maddie, she is my sisters dog

The City of Plano Hot air balloon
The first few balloons to inflate.. The sky was gorgeous!
Tons of these crazy things!
The side of this one was promoting Hot Springs!! It was be
absolutely amazing to fly in one of these around the Natural State!

Finally the sun was up!! I Like HIM!
The Pirate Balloon! He was hilarious
The creepy Clown

I secretly would love to fly in one of these!! After walking around looking at vendors and LOTS and LOTS of people watching it was time for.....

If you haven't tried the pumpkin pancakes for a limited time only, It is a MUST!! It was such a fun Saturday morning!
Have you ever wanted to fly in a hot air balloon?!

Have a spectacular weekend,

A Much Needed Weekend With The Girls..

This past weekend two of my best friends from college came down to visit "perfect" Plano!!! A weekend in Plano usually consists of lots and lots of shopping, home cooking from pretty Chrissie, Dunham family game nights with Scattegories and Mexican Dominoes, and having sunday morning church at Prestonwood!

I just LovEEE them!

Breakfast:
"Pretty" Chrissie woke us up with a HUGE breakfast! She just LOVES to cook and has the best recipes for EVERYTHING! She's my Paula Dean..
Grape Salad Dish
Grapes, Cream Cheese, Pecans, and Cinnamon
Cinnamon Coffee Cake
Breakfast Casserole

Our favorite place to shop.. ANTHROPOLOGIE!
I think I could buy everything in that store. I love the rustic/vintage looks!

Fat Straws:
One stop that Erica has to make is a trip to this chinese bubble tea smoothie place called Fat Straws. For some reason she HAS to have one every time she is here!
Barbie Cake
To celebrate, of course I HAD to bake something!
I just love to bake fun cakes! Barbie was so easy and turned out cute. You actually cook the cake in a pyrex measuring cup to form the shape of her dress. It tasted AH-MAZING thanks to the "cake doctor." Everyone needs to have her cookbook. Her recipes are amazing as she takes a normal box of dry cake mix and adds a few ingredients that normally I already in my kitchen!

Family Game Nights consists of..
You never know what will happen during our game nights. You might even have to sing Christmas Carols before you can make a move in dominoes or have all of your answers in Scattergories voted NO!

Dimples Cupcakes: The sweetest Must-Go place is DIMPLES CUPCAKES! They are to die for and the best!

They have the best flavors such as, wedding cake, cookies and cream, red velvet, lemon, orange dreamsicle, Chocolate mousse, carrot cake, banana milk chocolate, snicker,  strawberry, pineapple coconut, and banana pudding! The best is Wedding Cake!

Date Night with the Texas Rangers

Like I have said before, I love some major league baseball and college football. The Texas Rangers are my favorite MLB team, hands down. There is nothing like a watching a Rangers game on a summer night in the stadium with a hot dog and diet coke! I have cheered them on for years and try to go to at least two games every season. This past Wednesday, Dick surprised me with tickets only 25 rows up from home plate!

I found this on my bed one night when I got home! This is Gabby, she is a build-a-bear got Dick bought me our first Valentine's together. She is always dressed for the occasion!
I was so excited! I never get to sit this close!!

It was DOLLAR hot dog night at the ball park!

Josh Hamilton (Hambone) is me and Dick's all time favorite player! We love to watch him play! If you haven't read his book you  definitely need to.  He is an incredible guy and just happens to be best a bat and out in left field.

It was the perfect night for Baseball! The "cold" front moved across north Texas that night with the temperature dropping down to the low 70's. It was another win for the Rangers and such a fun game with the dance cam, dot race, steal the base game, claw cam, dollar hot dog night, and the fireworks from Josh Hamilton's home run!
